Maybe it’s the influx of tourists which is racing rapidly into London in the run-up to the Olympics who have inspired me or maybe it’s the awful weather we’ve been having here, but whatever the reason, I must let you in on something… Recently I have found myself wearing my Nike Airs more and more. And I’m not just talking about for trips to the gym (sadly there have not been many lately) but I’m talking about just for regular “running” about town. I am wearing them with everything and anything! Some might say that this is taking comfort dressing a step too far. But I don’t care. I am tired of ruining my good shoes in the buckets and puddles of summer rain which won’t go away. And these shoes are so resilient. In fact, I’ve had them since I was 15! And they’re still full of air and bright and bouncy as ever!

Aside: The neon pink jeans are by J Brand and also SO comfortable! (available at Oxygen Boutique) My favourite jeans of the moment! In fact more than the moment, more like, where have you been all my life?! I will love you forever and always.
Regarding the trainers, some might say that mine are vintage. (Does 90s count as vintage? Matter of opinion and age of person answering question I guess…) They are certainly not this season’s but have well stood the test of time (or possibly I haven’t tested them enough!). My point is that a good pair of Nike Airs will protect you from strangely adverse summer weather conditions (within reason) and put a spring in your step. Not to be dismissed as gym gear, they will carry you through all those times when leather soles, sandals and supple suedes will not. Do you remember back in the 90s (around the peak of All Saints’ fame) when it was really cool to wear actual sports shoes (as opposed to street trainers) with your every day clothes? Well I think that this is a trend which is catching up fast on the present again. Sure it’s definitely the summer to be sporting it. As the hoards of sportsmen and Olympian tourists descend on London, I say, well if you can’t beat them in their game, you may as well join them in their look! Mine are still running strong but if I had to replace them now, these are some of my current favourites…
